Children’s Day, 2023 Celebration
The theme for the 2023 Children’s Day is “Investing in our future means investing in our children”
Investing in the future of our children begins with providing them with good nutrition. According to the 2022 Global Hunger Index (GHI) report, over 1 in 10 children in Nigeria die before their 5th birthday due to the scourge of malnutrition. Undernutrition has been shown to reduce the physical and mental development of children, and consequently their capacity to work and assume their full roles in the society as adults.
A healthy diet remains out of reach for a vast majority of people especially those living in rural poor communities. Improving children nutrition is key as it impact on their survival, growth and development and their social and economic toll on the nation. Expanding the delivery of key nutrition interventions during the critical 1,000-day window can not be overemphasized after which the negative impacts of an insufficient diet become largely irreversible.
We are committed to ensuring that everyone, everywhere has access to an affordable, diverse, and healthy diet. We believe that when our children are well fed today, they can grow to see the future.
Every child is special.
Happy Children’s Day
