The need for competent professionals skilled to conduct nutrition education interventions is especially great in countries like Nigeria with a growing rate of malnutrition.

Last week, in partnership with CASCADE Nigeria, we trained the female staff of the Faculty of Agriculture, Nasarawa State University at the faculty premises in Lafia. The training which also include setting up of farm demonstration is aimed at promoting long-term improvements in diets, with special attention on Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) nutritional benefits, economic opportunities, good agronomic practices and setting up demonstration farm in the school.

While developing necessary competencies for their professional lives, participants learnt how to improve their own diets and how to address nutrition-related threats in their communities.
